JUNIOR TKM 'O' PLATE - JULY - KIMBOLTON
This was to be Josh's first race in Junior TKM and having only been out on the new chassis once it was going to be a tough weekend.
SATURDAY PRACTICE - He had a fairly good days practice and seemed to be on the pace.
SUNDAY RACE DAY - Josh had a hard time finding the right set up all day and seemed to be lacking the pace he had had the day before. He raced well in his new class and finished 9th.
TKM FESTIVAL - AUGUST - WHILTON MILL
FRIDAY TEST DAY - This was Josh's first time since being in cadet and the new track extension at Whilton Mill. He did very well and was on the pace all day. Looking promising for Saturday and Sunday.
SATURDAY QUALIFYING AND RACE - Josh had a practice in the morning then straight into qualifying. There were 61 junior TKM's entered so there was a lot of competition. He went out for qualifying and seemed to struggle. The carb had gone down he qualified 17th in his group which meant starting 17th for every heat. He did heat 1 and finished 9th a great start. In heat 2 he finished 7th another great race.
SUNDAY RACE DAY - Josh started 17th again in his final heat and all we were hoping for was that he finished in the top ten and qualified in the elite group. He finished heat 3 in 9th another great race. This gave him a start position of 8th in the prefinal of the elite group. In the pre-final he had a great race and finished in 8th giving him a start postion of 8th in the Grand Final. He managed to do very well moving up the field after a not so good start. He eventually finished 4th right on the tail of 2nd and 3rd. A great end to a very good weekend and his first trophy in Junior TKM.
SHENNINGTON CLUB MEETING - AUGUST
SATURDAY TEST DAY - Josh had a good test session on Saturday being very competitive.
SUNDAY RACE DAY - Josh started heat 1 in 4th and finished in 4th. In heat 2 he started 14th and finished 8th. In heat 3 he was knocked off at cafe but tried hard and battled to catch up finishing near the back. This gave him a start position of 10th in the final. He drove a good hard race and finished 6th just outside the trophy's!! But a good days racing considering the off in heat 3.
LAKELAND CHALLENGE MEETING - ROWRAH, CUMBRIA
FRIDAY PRACTICE - Josh had a good days practice with a bit to find in the wet as it was his first time in the wet in the TKM but thoroughly
enjoyed the days testing.
SATURDAY PRACTICE - Another good days practice being one of the fastest in the dry, hoping for a dry meeting but the weather forecast
looks very bad for Sunday and Monday.
SUNDAY RACE DAY - Heat 1 was a damp track so Josh went out on slicks and took a chance. He was knocked off at the start which
put him to the back. He chased well and the grip got better as the race progressed. He finished 9th, but got the
fastest lap. Heat 2 was wet and with hardly any wet testing struggled a bit with grip. He started 9th and finished 6th.
In Heat 3 Josh started 7th and with an adjustment on the kart managed to finish 5th. He started 7th in the final and drove
a good race but only managed to finish 5th in very wet conditions.
MONDAY RACE DAY - Over night on the Sunday the weather took a turn for the worse with very high winds and very heavy rain. A decision was
made not to race and to come home as the weather was so bad.
A bit of a disapointing weekend but also a very good one with the wet testing that Josh had.
SEPTEMBER CLUB MEETING - KIMBOLTON
SATURDAY PRACTICE - Josh had a good days practice in dry conditions! By the end of the day he was the fastest.
SUNDAY RACE DAY - There were 18 competitors in todays race. In Heat 1 Josh started 4th, had a good race and finished 2nd with the
fastest lap. In Heat 2 Josh started 7th, unfortunately he was fired on the first bend, bending a track rod and breaking
the back number plate, he failed to finish. In Heat 3 Josh started 10th and had a good but hard race and finished 5th.
Because of the non finish in heat 2 this gave him grid 8 for the final. He had a good start and battled hard. He eventually
took 2nd with 2 laps to go and managed to hold it and was closing the leader down when the finish flag was raised. A
second place and the fastest lap again in the final was and excellent result after a good weekend.
SHENNINGTON CLUB MEETING - SEPTEMBER
SATURDAY PRACTICE - Josh had a good days practice being well on the pace, hopeful for a good day tomorrow.
SUNDAY RACE DAY - In Heat 1 Josh started 18th he had a good but hard race and finished 10th. In Heat 2 Josh started 12th and finished 9th. In
Heat 3 Josh started 6th had a good race and finished 6th. This gave him 6th on the grid for the final with a grid of 27
entered. He had a bad start which set him back a few places, he drove well but only managed to finish 9th but his fastest
lap in the final was only 2/10ths off the fastest in the race. A good days racing shame the finish position didn't reflect it.
KIMBOLTON CLUB MEETING - OCTOBER
SATURDAY PRACTICE - Josh had a good days practice setting the pace at the end of the day.
SUNDAY RACE DAY - It was a dry day with 18 on the grid. In 3 lap warm up Josh had a problem and was unable to take part, leaving him not knowing
if the kart was set up ok for the first heat. In Heat 1 Josh started 13th. He had a good race and managed to get up to 2nd on the
last lap but was forced wide on the last bend sending him down to 3rd. The lad was penalised for this and was given a 1 place
penalty promoting Josh to 2nd. In Heat 2 Josh started 6th, had a good start and race and finished 1st. In Heat 3 Josh started 5th,
again he had a good start and race and won the heat with the fastest lap also. This gave Josh pole for the final. He lost a place at
the start, but soon gained it back and continued to pull a gap on the rest of the pack. He was closed down in the final stages but
took his 1st WIN in jnr tkm by 0.11 of a second. He also had the fastest lap of the day.
An excellent end to a good weekend with his 1st win.
CLAY PIGEON RACEWAY - NOVEMBER CLUB MEETING
SATURDAY PRACTICE - Josh had to run an engine in that had been serviced so didn't get practising until late morning. He was soon on the pace
and finished the day the fastest.
SUNDAY RACE DAY - There were only 9 racing today. In heat 1 Josh started 5th, got upto 2nd but then slowly went backwards finishing 5th.
When he came in it was found he had a puncture. In heat 2 Josh started 2nd, had a good start and drove away finishing some 10 seconds ahead of everyone also setting the fastest
lap. In heat 3 Josh started 4th, he went for an overtaking move in the 'S' s and was taken off. When he eventually got going he was a lap down but still got the fastest lap.
In the final he was to start 5th with it all to do. He had a good start and was soon in second. He had excellent pace and went for the lead, which he held until the second to
last bend where he went wide and was overtaken only for that kart to run wide, he retook the lead and WON! He also had the fastest lap.
Another good weekends racing with another win.
